MedCity News Service, founded by former Plain Dealer reporters, Chris Seper and Mary Vanac, received $30,000 to create a medical industry news service and web site which will cover Northeast Ohio's growing medical community. The service will provide comprehensive industry-wide coverage of innovation and influence in medical and health-care communities and will deliver local professional medical news to the communities it covers.
Minds Matter of Cleveland
 Minds Matter will help high-achieving high school students from low-income families gain admission to undergraduate programs at top colleges. This program will use mentors to coach students on application writing, study habits and the college admission process.

SpangleMagazine.com is an online portal dedicated to connecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) patrons in Northeast Ohio with local arts, entertainment and cultural organizations and events. Arts, culture and entertainment rates as the top interests for the LGBT community yet there is no single source to deliver this demographic to the arts. As SpangleMagazine.com goal is to act as the primary connection between the LGBT community and arts and mobilize the LGBT demographic to attend events and support the arts.
