A Cleveland company that aims to use the Internet to help artists market their music has received a $30,000 grant from the Civic Innovation Lab.
Citizen Groove LLC will use the money to continue developing an online portal meant to make it easier for music fans to search for artists, to help artists market themselves and network with others in the industry, and to compile marketing data for media industry professionals.
The company, founded by students at Case Western Reserve University, has raised more than $150,000 to date, according to information from the Civic Innovation Lab, a nonprofit organization that funds companies and projects that could have a positive impact on Northeast Ohio.
Among the groups that have provided financing to Citizen Groove are Cuyahoga County’s North Coast Opportunity Fund and the Lorain County Community College Foundation’s Innovation Fund.
